The Symphony Centre, Auckland

Invigorating Cities and Communities with Partnership and Collaboration

RCP is proud to be leading for MRCB, The Symphony Centre project, a world-class urban regeneration project that will transform the midtown neighbourhood of Auckland’s city centre, as well as breathe new life into the Aotea Arts Quarter.

David Hazewinkel – Project Manager and Advisory at RCP said, “The proposition of The Symphony Centre is incredibly compelling, combining the very best principles of sustainability, world-class architecture and design, and expert commercial and industry insight to create a nuanced and dynamic project that will bring with it layers of commercial and public benefits.

A multidisciplinary approach to urban regeneration, The Symphony Centre has so many schools of thought working together to create a convincing solution to Auckland’s growing urbanisation.”

The Symphony Centre project is also a prime example of collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and a people-centric approach.

As well as helping revitalise arts and culture in the inner city, RCP’s aim for The Symphony Centre is to ensure the wider community feels included and consulted as the project progresses.

An integrated approach respects each stakeholder’s viewpoint and knowledge, recognising that all bring unique perspectives and expertise to the table. This includes the private sector, government bodies, iwi and community organisations.

The RCP team has created strategies that incorporate these diverse viewpoints and expertise, resulting in a project that is not just about buildings but recognises the knowledge and expertise of others leaving a legacy that serves the entire community.

A world-class urban regeneration project will transform the midtown neighbourhood of Auckland’s city centre, as well as breathe new life into the Aotea Arts Quarter.

Construction is expected to commence in early 2025 on completion of the exterior of the Te Waihorotiu Station over which The Symphony Centre is being built – New Zealand’s first transit-oriented development.
