In June 2013, RCP (through its South Australian subsidiary) was engaged by the University of Adelaide to undertake the role of project manager in connection with new graduate club rooms located on university leased parkland. At the time of RCP’s engagement, the project was on hold with an estimated cost of $5m and a budget of $3m. RCP and a newly appointed consultant team value managed works, balancing the objectives of the end users (7 sporting hubs) with the requirements of the Adelaide Parklands Authority and Adelaide City Council until the project brief and budget were reconciled and the works were approved by the University of Adelaide project delivery unit. RCP then managed the delivery of the project on time and under budget.
Acting as project manager, RCP’s key scope of services during the course of the project included:
- engagement of the consultant team
- review of existing design
- engagement with stakeholders and end users to identify key project objectives
- value management and redesign to reconcile brief and budget and preparation of a design development report
- development of a master project program and monthly detailed program
- management of authority approvals (including non-complying development in the parklands)
- chairing design meetings and value management workshops
- monthly certification of consultant and contractor progress claims
- preparation of a detailed handover report and program assessing the key documents, processes and requirements necessary to achieve successful handover
- defects management
