Key Features:
- Refurbishment of the theatre’s rear stage to create a performance and event space.
- Refurbishment of existing back of house areas including corridors, storerooms, dressing rooms and other rooms associated with successful operation of the facility.
RCP was engaged by Foundation Theatres to provide project management services for the repurposing the rear stage area within the existing Sydney Lyric Theatre. The new performance space provides a new stand alone, self-contained venue in addition to the existing auditorium which accommodates up to 2000 patrons.
In response to a demand for premium live entertainment venues that can accommodate intimate, theatrical works, comedy, events, and live music Foundation Theatres developed Foundry Theatre. An innovative reimagining of an underutilised backstage area of the Sydney Lyric, Foundry Theatre is a multi-purpose, flexible performance, and event space suitable for a wide range of live entertainment and events.
The new venue has three operational modes:
- Theatre – tiered, floor and balcony seating.
- Concert – general admission standing and fixed seating in the balcony.
- Cocktail – from intimate occasions to patrons utilising all areas with balcony seating.
Foundry Theatre’s name draws inspiration from a traditional foundry, a space of transformation and creation.
Theatregoers have access to the facilities of the Sydney Lyric, including box office, bars, cloakroom, bathrooms and experience Foundation Theatre’s signature premium service throughout.
