Construction work on the $45m transformation of Brisbane’s International Airport Terminal commenced in February 2014 was completed in 2015. RCP was engaged in 2012 by Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd (BAC) to provide a rigorous programme audit role across the extensive upgrade of retail areas to be carried out within the operating Terminal.
The RCP programming team provided BAC with specialist time related advice as well as reviewing contractor programmes, regularly updating status and keeping BAC fully informed about progress throughout the project.
The project included upgrading retail areas on Levels 2 and 3 and associated storage facilities on Level 1 of the International Terminal. Designed by local Queensland architects Richards and Spence and Arkhefield, the revitalised International Terminal will create a vibrant airport retail environment with a distinctly ‘Queensland theme’. The redevelopment will “make it one of the most beautiful, unique and welcoming in the world.” said BAC CEO and Managing Director Julieanne Alroe in December 2013. “When we have finished, our International Terminal will be the most impressive and unique in Australia and completely different from anywhere else in the world. It will be something locals will be proud of and visitors will fondly remember.”
