RCP were commissioned by the Department of Public Works (DPW) to provide Project Programming services for the first stage of the $500m Gatton Correctional Precinct Development.

The DPW aims to develop a correctional precinct to accommodate growth in the general prisoner population in south east Queensland for the foreseeable future.

The precinct will feature several stand-alone prisons and will be developed over 4 stages. Stage one includes a 300 bed female centre and is scheduled for completion by June 2011. Ultimately the precinct could house over 3,500 prisoners.

The precinct will also feature a special care unit / hospice for elderly and infirm prisoners will be provided in the first stage of the male centre.

The first stage of development commenced in October 2008 with $485m allocated for extensive site preparation works and construction of a 300-bed women’s correctional centre.

RCP provided master programming and design programming throughout the early stages of the project and are now providing an audit role service throughout construction.
