ISPT Pty Ltd appointed Resource Co-ordination Partnership (RCP) in December 2010 to provide project management and programming services for the $100million re-development of the Wintergarden Shopping Centre located in the heart of the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane. The shopping centre refurbishment with a GLA of 13,000m2 over three levels also included a 90m long, 2Sm high, three dimensional metal art faade with 24,000 LED lights.
The project posed considerable challenges for the team involving the location of the site within Brisbane city’s prime retail shopping precinct and with three street frontages, co-ordination with the proposed adjoining 40 storey Regent Tower development and in particular, constructing within an operational shopping centre.
The RCP project team worked proactively with all the key stakeholders and understood the specific requirements of constructing within an operating retail environment to address and respond to issues. Led by Project Manager Tim Jones, RCP never lost sight of the end goal – identifying cost and time opportunities to meet ISPT’s project parameters.
The centre includes a number of flagship tenancies including RM Williams, Rodd and Gunn, Coach and Seed in addition to 60 specialist retailers, food court and lifestyle and leisure precinct and RCP also worked with ISPT to assist with Tenancy Co-ordination for the new shopping centre.
Delivered over two stages, the centre was fully completed in April 2012. Testament to the success of the project delivery team, the centre has won two Master Builders Brisbane 2012 Housing and Construction Awards and three Property Council of Australia Queensland Division Awards.
